PepeCoin (PEPECOIN) is a cryptocurrency launched on 5 March 2016, establishing itself as one of the earliest memecoins alongside Dogecoin. Initially operating on its own Proof-of-Work (PoW) Layer 1 blockchain, PepeCoin distributed coins through mining rather than via an ICO or smart contracts.
