CoinW's Expedition Trek: Pioneering Grassroots Web3 Adoption

Although the consensus regarding Web3 mass adoption through education has long been reached among industry leaders, if we examine the figures of on-chain addresses and developers, the current situation still appears to fall far below our expectations.
Another question that arises when discussing mass adoption is: Who constitutes the “mass”? Are they developers? Users from the wealthiest countries and regions? CoinW’s Expedition Trek has offered its answer.
Expedition Trek: A Journey of grassroots adoption
The world’s pioneering crypto exchange has recently launched its Expedition Trek at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. Taking place in a central global hub, the Expedition Trek features a wide range of expert panelists from projects such as Solana, Metamask, Animoca, Tether and Dubai Blockchain Centre to discuss topics like Bitcoin ETFs, the evolution of crypto and fintech regulation, the future of CBDCs and programmable money, and the blockchain ecosystem in Dubai.
Moreover, the Expedition Trek revealed its ambitious schedule. Over the next six months, it will visit Hong Kong, Austin, Amsterdam, Rio De Janeiro and Cape Town, coinciding with key Web3 events such as Consensus and Money 20/20, to enrich audiences and inspire the next generation of DeFi leaders.
Notably, CoinW's Expedition Trek doesn't confine itself to affluent regions, but also ventures into lower-middle-income countries as classified by the World Bank. This is because CoinW’s education program is targeting grassroots adoption.
Grassroots crypto adoption isn’t about which countries have the highest raw transaction volumes – anyone could probably guess that the biggest, wealthiest countries are far ahead in these numbers. Instead, the aim is to highlight countries where average, everyday people embrace crypto the most. CoinW’s vision isn’t just idealism. Recent research shows that although the adoption of crypto has been declining since the last bull run, grassroots adoption has seen a much stronger recovery than anywhere else: lower-middle-income (LMI) countries.
As an international crypto exchange serving over 10 million users across 200 countries, CoinW understands the pivotal role of user-friendly products. Recently, it became the first and only crypto exchange to support the New Taiwan Dollar for deposits and withdrawals, and it launched Visa-supported crypto debit cards with HyperPay to facilitate daily use.
Non-DeFi innovation as a catalyst for adoption
CoinW recognizes that one barrier deterring Web3 adoption is its overly finance-centric nature, which fails to attract your average users. The industry still lacks diverse use cases, developers, and most importantly, a user base not solely focused on trading.
The key to achieving this lies in non-DeFi innovation. Thus, CoinW has partnered with Crypto University to offer a series of online courses, including blockchain fundamentals for new users and developer-centric courses. Additionally, collaborations with universities in Dubai aim to incubate innovation on campus.
Earlier this year, CoinW initiated an in-campus innovation program in Taiwan in collaboration with the Taiwan Blockchain Academia (TBA), featuring an annual blockchain course calendar.
In tandem with industry leaders, CoinW is spearheading efforts towards broader crypto adoption worldwide, inspiring the next generation of blockchain leaders. Through reducing educational barriers, fostering trust and ensuring accessibility, CoinW is driving significant strides in Web3 adoption.
